Kristo has held a deep respect for the beauty of music. He started to play piano when he was 11 years old and took lessons for several years with professional pianist David Crane in Los Angeles. During his junior high school years, he began to compose and record his own music, performing in various bands throughout high school, including at Pacific Palisades High, Santa Monica, and Malibu. It was during this time that he became entranced by the sounds of jazz, influenced by artists like John Coltrane, Monk, and Sun Ra. Kristo also explored the music of popular artists such as Prince, Bob Marley, James Brown, and Earth, Wind and Fire. In high school, he taught himself bass and guitar, becoming proficient on these instruments and playing live in many different bands across the Hawaiian Islands, as well as in Washington State and Florida. In 2009, he began extensive touring with The Floridian Band, showcasing his talents through live jazz performances along the entire west coast of Florida. Now relocated to Denver, Colorado, Kristo continues to teach piano, bass, and electric guitar while also singing. His new musical project, the Kristo Trio, brings forward a powerful mix of old and new school jazz, featuring original jazz compositions and modern fusion that highlight his soulful creativity.
William D. Foster Jr., a versatile and powerful musician, has been playing drums and percussion since he discovered a set in the trash down the alley from his childhood home. Just a toy, but it marked the beginning of his journey. William has played in and produced bands from Seattle to Baltimore and various locations in between, most recently in Denver, his current home base. He has also been a part of the Kristo Trio, showcasing original jazz compositions through live jazz performances. Why? Because music makes you fly.
Wilson Luallen received an electric bass for his twelfth birthday, and a few years later he began playing rock songs with friends. He later expanded his skills to include the upright bass, which he studied at the University of Denver. Since 2015, he has been playing professionally and is thrilled to explore new musical vistas with the Kristo Trio, particularly through their live jazz performances and original jazz compositions.
Kristo Trio was born when Kristo, by serendipitous circumstance, walked into a well-known restaurant in Denver and witnessed a phenomenally talented and joyful drummer, William Foster Jr., who immediately caught his attention. Kristo recognized that William would be the ideal drummer for his vision of a progressive jazz fusion trio that blends old and new school elements with original jazz compositions. After collaborating with several renowned jazz bass players, Wilson Luallen auditioned for the Kristo Trio, and Kristo was once again certain that Wilson, an exemplary jazz stand-up and electric fretless bass player, would be the perfect addition to complete his ultimate vision of the ideal progressive jazz fusion trio. Thus, the Kristo Trio was formed! The trio plans to showcase their unique sound through live jazz performances across North America and internationally as well.
